Assistant Teacher

We are beginning our fall hiring process and are in need of a full-time Assistant Teacher for the 22-23 school year. 

Expectations, Skills and Responsibilities

We are looking for a gentle and loving individual to assist the lead teacher in all aspects of running the classroom. Preference will be given to applicants that have an understanding of Waldorf education practices and philosophy. Must be ECT (Early Childhood Teacher) qualified by the State of Colorado, or on your way (Assistant ECT).

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Have an interest and understanding of Waldorf education philosophy
  • Have a love of nature and be willing to explore with the children, even in inclement weather
  • Demonstrate warmth, compassion and clarity in working with both children and adults
  • Work cohesively with the lead teacher to create an environment of warmth, love, and safety for the children
  • Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, to co-workers and parents alike
  • Be able to take instruction from the lead to assist in running all aspects of the classroom
  • Observe and care for our children’s physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development and well-being
  • Contribute to monthly faculty meetings and festivals
  • Preference to be ECT (Early Childhood Teacher) qualified by the State of Colorado

This is a year-round position with paid time off around the holidays (including Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas and a week for spring break). Paid vacation/sick time as well as paid mentoring time outside of the classroom is also included.  Hours are typically Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 with a paid 45 min. lunch break.

Parent-Child Teacher – Part time

We are looking to hire a part time Parent-Child teacher to run our seasonal Blossom Garden program. It runs 3 consecutive Saturdays, from 9:00-12:00 with sessions occurring once per season (currently, September, December, April, June). However, we are flexible on dates based on teacher availability. The Director and Lead will work together to create the schedule each school year.

Expectations, Skills and Responsibilities

We are looking for a gentle and loving individual to join our team and introduce toddlers and their parents to the wonder and joy of Waldorf early childhood. Preference will be given to applicants who have earned their Waldorf early childhood certification, or are working towards it. We have an established assistant who has been helping with the program for many years.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Have a love of Waldorf early childhood and desire to share that passion with others.
  • Have experience with planning circles, stories, and activities appropriate for toddlers and their adults.
  • Understand the developmental needs of children 18 months – 3 years.
  • Demonstrate warmth, compassion and clarity in working with both children and adults.
  • Work cohesively with co-teachers to create an environment of warmth, love, and safety for the children.
  • Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, to co-workers and parents alike.
  • Observe and care for our children’s physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development and well-being.

This is a part-time position for a minimum of 12 Saturday mornings, per year. The possibility for more sessions is there if the teacher wishes to grow the program. Interest is high from families! The candidate will be responsible for planning the rhythm and activities each day, as well as gathering needed supplies/materials (many of which we’ll already have at the school). We are looking for someone to begin with our April session as our current teacher will be stepping back to welcome baby #2 to their family.

 

Salary is a flat rate of $300 per 3-week session, which will cover planning time as well as in-class hours (~$20/hr).


Early Childhood Substitute Teachers

Substitute Teachers will help in the classrooms and/or kitchen when our teachers and kitchen assistants need time off for vacations, illnesses, or family affairs.

Salary:  $13-$15/hr based on education/experience
Hours: Variable
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assist in the classroom: setting up activities, prepare and clean up snack, guide children during group participation, and maintain neatness and organization of classroom.
•Meet the needs of children on a one-to-one basis.
•Communicate effectively with the lead teacher any behavior or development concerns of children (both written and verbal).
•Maintain proper staff to child ratios.
•Follow prescribed schedules for bathroom, playground, and cubby room supervision.
•Prepare and clean up before and after children arrive.
•Effectively supervise children both inside and outside the classroom.
•Assist with puppet shows and other events.
•Assist with parent evening and festival celebrations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Solid background teaching preschool-age children
• Solid knowledge and experience in Colorado Rules and Regulations for Child Care Facilities
• Solid knowledge of how children develop as individuals
• Solid working knowledge of Waldorf educational philosophies
• Ability to foster a love of life and learning in young children while gently guiding them in appropriate directions
• Ability to follow directions from lead teacher and Director
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, Director, and parents
• Ability to sing, dance, crawl, dig in the dirt, climb trees, and remember what it’s like to be a child

Minimum Experience, Education and/or Certifications:
Prefer those with ECT qualification (or working on it) by the State of Colorado. Great position for students in the field of Early Childhood Education!
