Lantern Walk on November 14th

Mark your calendars! River Song Waldorf School invites you to join us for our beautiful and beloved Annual Lantern Walk on Thursday, November 14th.
As the days grow shorter and the world settles into its winter rest, the Lantern Walk is a deeply meaningful Waldorf tradition that teaches children to carry their own inner light through the encroaching darkness. This is a gentle, quiet celebration of gratitude, community, and hope during the transition into winter.
Children will carry the lanterns they made by hand, processing along a darkened path while we sing traditional songs. The flickering light and quiet songs create a magical and memorable experience for the children, reinforcing the warmth of their inner spirit.
We look forward to sharing this beautiful evening of light and community with our families. As we walk, we will be singing the two songs below – take a moment to learn them so you can lend your voice to uplift our River Song community!

Solstice Spiral on December 19th

Each December, River Song gathers in quiet celebration for one of our most cherished traditions — the Winter Solstice Spiral. As the days grow shorter and darkness deepens, we come together to honor the return of the light.
Children walk the evergreen spiral one by one, carrying their candles to the center and lighting them from a single flame — a symbol of warmth, hope, and the light we each carry within. By each person lighting a candle and placing it along the path, the collective light of the group is created, symbolizing the power of sharing and community.
The path, lined with greenery and natural treasures, invites a sense of peace, reflection, and reverence for the turning of the seasons. This gentle ceremony offers a moment of stillness amid the winter rush — a reminder that even in the darkest days, light is always being kindled anew.
